About Pukeroa Station

Pukeroa Station is a working sheep and beef farm set in a quiet valley with wide views of the surrounding hills and ranges. For years it has been home to our family, and now we share it with backpackers and travellers who want a genuine taste of rural New Zealand. Staying here means slowing down, breathing fresh country air and seeing everyday farm life up close.

Backpackers Welcome

We’ve set up simple, comfortable lodge accommodation that works well for backpackers, families and small groups. Shared spaces make it easy to meet other travellers, while the quiet setting means you can still find your own corner to relax.

Pukeroa Station is more than just a place to stay – it’s a working farm. You’ll see sheep and cattle on the hills, hear the dogs at work and, at certain times of year, you may be able to watch seasonal jobs like shearing, docking or mustering. The landscape is a mix of rolling paddocks, gullies and ridges, with views that change with the light and the seasons.

Real Rural New Zealand

Staying at Pukeroa Station gives you a chance to experience everyday rural life. Feed the hens and collect fresh eggs, say hello to the pigs and donkeys, and watch the rhythm of the farm as the days go by.

Off the Beaten Track

We’re located at Tiraumea, about an hour from Masterton and roughly halfway between Wellington and Hawke’s Bay, just off Route 52. It’s a quiet, out‑of‑the‑way spot that still fits easily into your travel plans.
